The National Radiological Protection Board has been asked by Health Ministers to set up an Independent Expert Group to consider public health concerns about the use of mobile phones.

Under the chairmanship of Sir William Stewart, FRS, FRSE, the Expert Group (IEGMP) is conducting a rigorous assessment of existing research and will give advice based on the present state of knowledge.

As part of its review, the Expert Group is holding a series of open meetings at various locations in the UK. The fifth meeting will take place in Belfast.

The public and any interested groups are invited to attend the meeting and give their views on any issues related to possible health effects of mobile phones and transmission masts.
